Balfour Beatty plc ('the Company') today received notice from CGNU plc on
behalf of its wholly owned subsidiary, Norwich Union Investment Management
Limited ('NUIM'), that following the novation of funds from NUIM to another of
its wholly owned subsidiaries, Morley Fund Management Limited ('Morley'), NUIM
no longer have a notifiable interest in the Company's issued ordinary share
capital.

CGNU plc have further advised the Company that Morley now have a notifiable
interest in 26,855,359 50p Ordinary Shares of the Company representing 6.49%
of the Company's issued share capital.

The aggregate material interest of CGNU plc, which includes the 50p Ordinary
Shares in which Morley have an interest, remains 26,855,359 50p Ordinary
Shares, representing 6.49% of the issued ordinary share capital of the
Company.
