Balfour Beatty plc today received notice that Schroder Investment Management
Limited ('Schroders') has decreased its notifiable interest in the ordinary
share capital of Balfour Beatty plc from 51,875,590 ordinary shares and now
hold 45,902,164 ordinary shares, representing 10.93% of the issued ordinary
share capital of Balfour Beatty plc.  Schroders have informed us that these
shares are held in portfolios managed by them on a discretionary basis for
clients under investment management agreements.
