GEORGE PIERSON APPOINTED CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER 

OF PARSONS BRINCKERHOFF INC.


Balfour Beatty, the international infrastructure group operating in construction services, professional services, support services and infrastructure investments, announces today that George Pierson, currently the President and Chief Operating Officer of Parsons Brinckerhoff's Americas operations, has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of Parsons Brinckerhoff Inc. 

 

Keith Hawksworth, currently Chief Executive Officer, is to become Chairman, succeeding Jim Lammie, who is retiring.


Both appointmentare effective from 1st January 2010.

George Pierson will retain his position as Chief Operating Officer of PB's Americas division and Stuart Glenn will continue in his role as Chief Operating Officer, International. 


The acquisition of Parsons Brinckerhoff, one of the world's leading professional services companiesfor US$626 million (c.£380 million) was completed in October 2009 and achieves a number of key strategic objectives for Balfour Beatty including the development of a global professional services business and the further strengthening of its US presence.  


George Pierson joined Parsons Brinckerhoff in 2006 and was appointed Chief Operating Officer - Americas in January 2008.

George Pierson holds an MS in civil engineering from the University of California at Berkeley and a BS in civil engineering from Bucknell University, and is a registered professional engineer in California


He was appointed Chief Operating Officer - Americas for Parsons Brinckerhoff in January 2008.


Prior to joining Parsons Brinckerhoff in 2006, he operated as an engineer for various water resources projects, ran an environmental remediation business and served as the project executive on numerous assignments, including a US$160 million engineering, procurement and construction project in Saudi Arabia. 


Mr Pierson also holds a degree from Harvard Law School and an MBA from St. Mary's College of California.
