                     Purchase of Shares For Cancellation

Schroder UK Growth Fund plc announces that on 12 September 2001, the Company
purchased a total of 130,000 shares for cancellation at a price of 99.50 pence
per share. Following this purchase, there are a further 183,812,263 shares in
issue.
