The Baillie Gifford Japan Trust PLC

Owing to demand in the market, the Company announces the allotment of 150,000 new Ordinary Shares of 5p each fully paid on 30 October 2015.  Following the allotment there are 76,151,750 Ordinary Shares in issue.  These shares were issued for cash on 30 October 2015 at a price of 459.5p per share and at a premium to the prevailing net asset value.

The Company may issue up to a further 278,175 shares on a non-pre-emptive basis under the authority granted by shareholders at the Company's 2014 AGM.  As in previous years, the Company will be seeking authority from shareholders to issue up to 10% of its issued share capital on a non-pre-emptive basis at its AGM on 30 November 2015.
