Block Listing Application

The Baillie Gifford Japan Trust PLC (the "Company") has made an application to the UK Listing Authority for a block listing for general business purposes of 1,612,607 ordinary shares of 5 pence each (the "Shares") to be admitted to the Official List of the UKLA and to the London Stock Exchange for the Shares to be admitted to trading on its main market for listed securities.

Shares will be issued under the block listing to satisfy continuing market demand subject to guidelines laid down by the Board and in accordance with the Company's Articles of Association.  Any Shares will, when issued, rank pari passu with the existing shares of the Company.

The block listing is expected to become effective at 8.00am on 23 July 2015.
