            CHANGE OF COMPANY NAME & RETIREMENT OF DIRECTOR

This is to inform you that at the Annual General Meeting of Foreign & Colonial
Pacific Investment Trust PLC held on 31 May 2001, a resolution was passed
changing the name of the Company to F&C Pacific Investment Trust PLC.

You are also informed that The Rt. Hon. Lord Derwent, LVO retired from the Board
of F&C Pacific Investment Trust PLC immediately following the Annual General
Meeting.
