Babcock International Group PLC received notification on 10 October 2000 that
as at 9 October 2000, Phillips & Drew Life Limited has an interest in
13,536,768 Ordinary Shares of 50p each in the Company, representing 7.96% of
the issued Ordinary Share capital of the Company. Phillips & Drew Life Limited
is a subsidiary of UBS Asset Management Holding (No. 2) Limited. UBS Asset
Management (No. 2) Limited remains interested in 25,494,220 Ordinary Shares of
50p each in Babcock International PLC, representing 14.99% of the issued
Ordinary Share capital of the Company.
