October 2000, Lazard Freres & Co LLC, doing business as Lazard Asset
Management, and its subsidiaries have an interest in 6,996,700 Ordinary Shares
of 50p each in the Company, representing 4.114% of the issued Ordinary Share
capital of the Company. This interest is held as follows:

Lazard Freres & Co LLC                          4,601,700 (2.706%)
Lazard Asset Management Ltd                     2,395,000 (1.408%)
