Avon Rubber p.l.c. announces that following the appointment of Neil Carson as
Chief Executive of Johnson Matthey plc he wishes to resign from the Board of
Avon Rubber to concentrate on his new business role. His resignation will take
effect from the end of the Annual General meeting on 20 January 2005.

Neil joined the Avon Board on 15 May 2001 as a Non-Executive Director and the
Directors of Avon would like to thank him for his excellent contribution to Avon
Rubber and wish him every success in his new appointment.

The process to identify a successor has already started and a further
announcement will be made in due course.
