                    Notification of Major Interest in Shares


Manpower has today been notified that following the open offer of the Company
approved at the EGM held on 15 May 2002, Electra Quoted Management Limited 
("EQML"), as a result of its investment management activities for the clients
listed below, has a total interest in 2,143,750 ordinary 5p shares in the
Company, representing 4.85 per cent of the Company's issued share capital.

The shares are registered in the name of Clydesdale Bank (Custodian Nominees)
Limited a/c ESP.

The shares are held for the following clients:
