The Directors of Athelney Trust Plc ('Athelney') announce that they
were informed yesterday of a trade in Athelney ordinary shares on 13 June
2000. The NHP Executive Pension Scheme, in which Mr Ellert, a director of
Athelney, has a beneficial interest, has acquired 70,000 ordinary shares in
Athelney at a price of 70p. The total NHP Executive Pension Scheme holding now
amounts to 95,000 Athelney ordinary shares representing 5.27% of Athelney
shares in issue.

In addition to this Mr Ellert also has a personal holding in Athelney of 3,300
(0.18%) ordinary shares.
