ASTRAZENECA PLC BOARD OF DIRECTORS

As previously announced on 18 September 2000 and following the creation of
Syngenta AG, AstraZeneca PLC confirms that with effect from today, Monday 13
November 2000, Michael Pragnell has ceased to be a Director of AstraZeneca
PLC.

Mr Pragnell is a Director and the Chief Executive Officer of Syngenta AG.
