Result of Lloyd's Auction

Amlin plc announces that, in the third of the 1999 Lloyd's auctions, it has
acquired £11.1 million of capacity on its managed syndicates at an average
price of 6.6p per £ of capacity.  Capacity acquired so far in the 1999 Lloyd's
auctions amounts to £56.6 million.  With these purchases Amlin will own
approximately 49% of the capacity on its managed syndicates for the 2000 year
of account.   There will be 4 more auctions during 1999 which will provide
Amlin with further opportunities to increase its ownership of capacity on its
managed syndicates.
