NOTIFICATION OF CHANGE OF NAME OF A DISCLOSED SHAREHOLDER


Amlin plc ('Amlin') has received formal notification, pursuant to the Companies
Act, of a change of name of its shareholder, CGU Insurance Company (a US
company), to One Beacon Insurance Company. As previously disclosed, the holding
of this shareholder is 14,980,861 ordinary shares, which is 7.2% of Amlin's
present issued share capital. Both the number of shares and the percentage of
the issued share capital are prior to Amlin's current rights issue, which closes
on 4 February 2002, and thus do not take account of nil paid ordinary shares
arising from that issue.
