                           APPLICATION FOR LISTING AND
                              SHARE CAPITAL UPDATE


Application has been made to the UK Listing Authority for the block listing of
1,514,050 Amlin plc Ordinary Shares of 25p each fully paid, ranking, when
issued, pari passu in all respects with the existing issued ordinary shares, to
be admitted to the Official List of the UK Listing Authority and to trading on
the London Stock Exchange. These shares will be allotted pursuant to the
exercise of options under the Amlin Unapproved Share Option Scheme 1997, the
Amlin Approved Share Option Scheme 1997 and the Amlin 1998 Savings-Related Share
Option Scheme as and when such options are exercised.

Following the exercise of Sharesave options up to 9 December 2002, the issued
share capital of Amlin plc is now 388,298,357 Ordinary Shares of 25p each.
Recently issued shares in respect of such options are included within block
listings previously granted by the UK Listing Authority and the London Stock
Exchange
