Directorate change

Associated British Foods plc (the 'Company') is pleased to announce the
appointment of Peter Smith as an independent non-executive director, with effect
from today, 28 February 2007.  Peter Smith is currently chairman of Savills plc
and a non-executive Director of Templeton Emerging Markets Investment Trust plc,
The Equitable Life Assurance Society and N M Rothschild & Sons Limited.

Peter Smith will take up the position of chairman of the Company's Audit
Committee with effect from the conclusion of a meeting of the board to be held
on 18 April 2007.

The Company also announces Jeff Harris is retiring as an independent
non-executive director, and as chairman of the Audit Committee, with effect from
the conclusion of the board meeting on 18 April 2007.  The board thanks Jeff for
his valuable contribution and wishes him well for the future.
