Pursuant to section 198 of the Companies Acts 1985 please note that the number
of Associated British Engineering plc ordinary shares in which Peter 
Gyllenhammar is interested in is now 57,000 shares, equivalent to 4.34% of the 
issued ordinary capital.

A further 10,000 shares, included in the above figure, were purchased yesterday.
