                          Notification of Results for
                  fourth quarter and year ended 30 April 2005

Ashtead Group plc, the equipment rental group serving the US and UK
construction, industrial and homeowner markets, will announce its results for
the fourth quarter and year ended 30 April 2005 on Thursday 7 July 2005.

An analyst meeting will be held at 9:30 a.m. at the offices of JPMorgan
Cazenove, 20 Moorgate, London, EC2R 6DA.
