Further Drilling to Commence at the Inishowen Project

Connemara (AIM: CON) is pleased to announce that further  diamond drilling at its 100%-owned Inishowen Gold Project will commence on 25 September 2017.

Initially, five (5) holes are planned to test the geometry and extension of gold bearing veins discovered in 2016.  In addition more mapping and sampling will be conducted over the wider area.

John Teeling, Chairman, stated "This is the next step in our gold exploration programme in Donegal.  We need to find out if the gold bearing veins discovered in 2016 extend across the licence.  Other operations in bordering County Tyrone in similar geological settings include the Galántas Gold Corp's operating Omagh Gold Mine and the significant gold reserve established at Dalradian Resources' Curraghinalt Project. "

Inishowen Project

The Inishowen project consists of eleven (11) contiguous prospecting licences located on the Inishowen peninsula in County Donegal, Ireland.  These licences cover the entire Green Bed Member of the Dalradian Supergroup on the peninsula which is considered by Connemara to be highly prospective for mesothermal gold.

This next round of drilling is expected to build on the success of the initial discovery in April 2016 where 3.05m grading at 5.8g/t Au was discovered in hole 3 at 23.05m.  In June 2016 a further 643m was drilled over 4 holes targeting the veins from the north drilling south.  A high-grade zone was intercepted at 8.13m at a steeper angle of 70 degrees grading 4.82m at 5.48g/t Au.  The zone was not located in the step back drilling further from the north.  The new 2017 holes will target the veins by drilling from the south in order to establish the geometry of the gold-bearing veins.

In addition, more detailed structural data in the surrounding area will be collected that may assist expert analysis to direct further drill programmes.  New targets identified from compilation work will also be investigated over the northern part of the project area.
