                          Sale of Shares by Employee


ARC announces that Mr J Edelson, Senior Vice President of Marketing, today
sold 181,062 ordinary shares. This sale has been made to allow Mr Edelson to
pay US tax liabilities arising from the exercise of share options by Mr
Edelson. Mr Edelson's remaining holding of 1,114,008 shares in ARC continues
to be subject to lock-up arrangements, which expire on 28 September 2001.
