                                Board Appointment

The Board of Secure Trust Banking Group PLC announces that Mr. Andrew Salmon,
the Head of Business Development, is being appointed an Executive Director from
8 March 2004.

By Board notice 522 dated 16 September 1999, the Securities and Futures
Authority settled disciplinary proceedings against Andrew Salmon and others
arising out of the receipt and misuse of confidential information, thereby
failing to act with due skill, care and diligence. He was reprimanded and
ordered to pay a fine of £8,000 plus costs of £10,000.

There are no further disclosures to be made under Listing Rule 16.4.
