  Annual Report and Financial Statements and Notice of AGM and Class Meetings

Antofagasta plc (the 'Company') will post today its 2007 annual report and
financial statements (the 'Annual Report and Financial Statements') and notice
of the Annual General Meeting and Class Meetings of the Company ('Notice of
Meetings') to shareholders.

The meetings to which the Notice of Meetings relate are to be held at Church
House Conference Centre, Dean's Yard, Westminster, London SW1P 3NZ on 11 June
2008 from 10.30a.m.

In compliance with Listing Rule 9.6.1, the Company has submitted to the
Financial Services Authority two copies of each of the following documents:


   • Annual Report and Financial Statements;

   • Notice of Annual General Meeting and Class Meetings;

   • Form of Proxy for Ordinary Shareholders for Annual General Meeting;

   • Form of Proxy for Preference Shareholders for Annual General Meeting;

   • Form of Proxy for Ordinary Shareholders for Class Meeting;

   • Form of Proxy for Preference Shareholders for Class Meeting; and

   • Letter to Shareholders regarding Electronic Communications.

The Notice of Meetings includes resolutions to adopt new articles of
association. Accordingly, the Company has also submitted the proposed new
articles of association to the Financial Services Authority in compliance with
the Disclosure Rule and Transparency Rule 6.1.2.

These documents will shortly be available for inspection at the UK Listing
Authority's Document Viewing Facility, which is situated at Financial Services
Authority, 25 The North Colonnade, London E14 5HS. Each of these documents
(other than the forms of proxy) will also be available on the Company's website
at www.antofagasta.co.uk.
