Disposal of Non-core Assets Continues

ANGLO AMERICAN CONTINUES TO DISPOSE OF NON-CORE ASSETS

Anglo American plc announces that, in line with the published intent of
reducing its interests in non-mining and non-natural resources businesses,
Anglo American Corporation has disposed of 20,000,000 shares in McCarthy
Retail Limited to Mr ACP (Tony) Cotterell, thereby reducing its undiluted
shareholding in McCarthy Retail from 23,81% to 13,71% (fully diluted to
10,5%).

Further disposals will be considered when market conditions are appropriate.
