           Anglo American disposes of interest in the Nkomati Nickel
                                 Joint Venture



Anglo American plc ("Anglo American") has entered into an agreement to sell its
25% interest in the Nkomati Nickel Joint Venture to Anglovaal Mining Limited for
a cash consideration of R260 million (US$37 million).
