The Company announces that it was notified on 5 August 2005 by Mr R J King, a
Person Discharging Managerial Responsibility of the Company, that on 5 August
2005 he exercised options to acquire and immediately sold, ordinary shares of
US$0.50 in the capital of the Company under the Anglo American PLC Executive
Share Option Scheme 2001 as follows:
