Anglo American plc

Applications have been made to The UK Listing Authority and The London Stock
Exchange for 800 Ordinary shares of $0.50 each to be admitted to the Official
List and to be admitted to trading. These shares will rank pari passu with the
existing issued Ordinary shares. It is expected that dealings in the new
shares will commence on 2 July 2001.


These shares are being issued to the Company's Non-Executive Directors in part
as consideration of their services to the Company during the period 01 April
to 30 June 2001.
