ANGLIAN GROUP QUALIFYING EMPLOYEE SHARE OWNERSHIP TRUST (QUEST)

Anglian Group PLC became aware on 3 September 1999 that each of the Executive
Directors of Anglian Group PLC technically became interested today in 130,126
Anglian Group PLC's ordinary shares by virtue of the QUEST being allotted the
shares and those Directors being potential beneficiaries under the QUEST. (1)

On 3 September 1999 each of the Executive Directors of Anglian Group PLC
technically ceased to be interested in 130,126 Anglian Group PLC ordinary shares
by virtue of the QUEST transferring the shares to employees. (2)

Note:  For Companies Act purposes, The Executive Directors of Anglian Group PLC,
       together with all employees of the company, are deemed to have a
       technical interest in the shares held in Anglian Group's QUEST.  The
       interest ceases when shares are transferred to individuals who exercise
       their employees sharesave scheme options.

1)  On acquisition of share by the QUEST
2)  On disposal of share by the QUEST
