AGM Statement

Alumasc Group PLC 21 October 2004 THE ALUMASC GROUP PLC - CHAIRMAN'S AGM STATEMENT At the AGM in London this morning of Alumasc, the high specification engineering and building products group, the Chairman, John McCall, will state: "It was reported in our Preliminary Announcement on 8 September 2004 that Alumasc had acquired two building products companies, Roof-Pro Limited and Timloc Limited. I would like to repeat my welcome to these two companies on joining our Group. I am pleased to report that both businesses have performed well in the first months of their ownership by Alumasc. I am pleased to say that the opening months of trading in our new financial year ending 30 June 2005 have also been satisfactory. The increases in energy costs - to which we have referred in earlier statements - have continued, rising well above the levels at which our own company has contracted forward for the 12 months commencing 1 October 2004. The wider impact of this trend on economic activity in general is the subject of much debate. The one certainty is that it will not be positive. The uncertainties in external conditions make it doubly important for Alumasc to continue with the initiatives to control costs and develop markets which have helped achieve the advances of recent years."
