ALKANE ENERGY PLC

DIRECTOR SHAREHOLDING

Alkane Energy plc ('the Company') was today notified that Lady Fraser, the wife 
of Lord Fraser of Carmyllie QC, a  director of the Company, purchased 10,000 
ordinary shares at a price of 27.19p per share, on 23 November 2005.

Lord Fraser now has a total interest following this purchase of 80,000 ordinary
shares, representing 0.09% of the issued share capital.
