                     NET ASSET VALUE AS AT 31 DECEMBER 2006


The Board of Close Brothers Venture Capital Trust PLC ('the Company') announces
that as at 31 December 2006 the unaudited net asset value per share of the
Company was approximately 118.8 pence per share.

This net asset value excludes the second dividend of 5 pence per share paid to
shareholders on 5 January 2007 in respect to the year ended 31 March 2007 and
the first dividend of 5 pence per share payable to shareholders on 5 April 2007
in respect to the new financial year ended 31 March 2008.
