                    CLOSE BROTHERS VENTURE CAPITAL TRUST PLC


The Board of Close Brothers Venture Capital Trust announces a second interim
dividend of 2.5 pence per share, comprising 1 penny from net realised capital
profits and 1.5 pence from revenue reserves, both as at 30 September 2005.

The 2.5 pence dividend will be paid on 31 March 2006 to shareholders on the
register on 10 March 2006.
