Results of Strategic Review

Sirdar PLC 5 April 2000 Sirdar PLC Results of strategic review of curtains and accessories division It was reported on 22 March 2000 that the board was undertaking a strategic review to determine the future of the curtains and accessories division which comprises Eversure Textiles Limited ('Eversure'). This review included consideration of a major downsizing and/or a move to a significantly greater proportion of imported product. Reluctantly the board has concluded that these options will not return the operation to an acceptable level of profitability in the foreseeable future and it has, therefore, been seeking offers for all or part of Eversure. This process has been ongoing for some two weeks and several parties have expressed interest. However, the board has had to consider the possibility that these negotiations may not be successful and that it may be necessary for the Eversure operation in Sheffield to close down. A period of consultation with elected representatives of all employees will commence shortly to discuss the current situation. Eversure will continue trading and all current and future orders will be fulfilled. Negotiations with potential purchasers are ongoing and a further announcement on the future plans for Eversure will be made in due course.
