           NEW BOARD APPOINTMENT AT SIRDAR PLC


Sirdar PLC (the 'Company') are pleased to announce that,
with effect from 17 October 2000 and in accordance with
the Circular to shareholders dated 14 September 2000,
Duncan Verity has become an executive Director of the
Company.

Following the successful completion of the acquisition of
Ryalux Carpets Limited ('Ryalux'), Duncan has joined the
Board as Managing Director - Ryalux Division. Duncan is
highly experienced in the textiles industry, having been
with Ryalux for twelve years and having previously worked
for other major companies both in the carpet sector and
the rest of the textiles industry. Duncan joined Ryalux
in 1988 as managing director and became chief executive
in 1995.

Mr Verity has no matters to be disclosed pursuant to
paragraphs 6.F.2(b) to (g) and paragraphs 16.4 and 16.5
of the Listing Rules of the UK Listing Authority.
