Advanced Medical Solutions Grp PLC 29 March 2006 For immediate release 29 March 2006 Advanced Medical Solutions Group plc ('AMS' or 'the Company') Major NHS Trust implements ActivHeal(R) range Winsford, UK: Advanced Medical Solutions Group plc (AIM: AMS), the global woundcare technology company, today announces that the Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals NHS Trust (ORH) has implemented the ActivHeal(R) advanced woundcare range as its first choice dressings. The ORH consists of four hospitals - the John Radcliffe and Churchill Hospitals, Headington, the Radcliffe Infirmary, Oxford, and the Horton Hospital in Banbury. Significant changes to the Trust's formulae for woundcare dressings were introduced under the direction of the Chief Nurse working in conjunction with Pharmacy to implement ActivHeal(R). ActivHeal(R) is a value range of advanced woundcare dressings specifically designed by AMS for use on routine wounds. Independent technical and clinical assessment has shown that the ActivHeal(R) products are equivalent to the branded versions in performance whilst significantly reducing the cost of treatment. ActivHeal(R) offers real and immediate savings to the NHS of the order of £25m per year across England and Scotland. These savings on the treatment of routine wounds are available to ensure that the new technologies needed for problematic cases are affordable within current budgets. As a UK based R&D and manufacturing company, AMS is also involved in delivering innovative woundcare technologies to the market through its branded marketing and distribution partners. Commenting on this announcement Dr. Don Evans, Chief Executive of AMS, stated: 'I am delighted that we have added a major teaching centre such as the Oxford Radcliffe to the growing number of Hospital and Primary Care Trusts that have adopted the ActivHeal(R) offering as a way of managing costs without compromising patient care.' The Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals NHS Trust Chief Nurse, Julie Hartley-Jones, added: 'There is no clinical evidence to support the view that any one dressing within the categories addressed by ActivHeal(R) is more effective than another of the same type. Therefore, it has been agreed that the ActivHeal(R) range will be implemented with immediate effect since the use of these products offer the Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals savings of 30%, at a time of severe funding pressure. 'These changes have the approval of the Trust Product Selection Group, the Medicines Advisory Committee and the Tissue Viability Nurse Consultant.'
