New Deal

Advanced Medical Solutions Grp PLC 7 January 2002 For Immediate Release: 07.00, Monday, 7 January 2002 Advanced Medical Solutions Group plc ('AMS' or the 'Company') Agrees Silver Fibre Technology Deal with Noble Fiber Technologies Inc.('Noble') Winsford, Cheshire, UK: AMS, the medical device company, today announces that it has licensed novel 'X-STATIC(R)' silver fibre technology from Noble. The agreement enables AMS to use X-STATIC(R) silver fibres in its alginate based woundcare dressings and also grants AMS exclusive world-wide rights to seek marketing partners for these products. Silver is widely recognised as a safe and effective broad spectrum anti-microbial agent for infection control. The X-STATIC(R) silver fibre technology utilises a layer of pure silver, bonded to the surface of a textile fibre, which enables it to be incorporated into an alginate dressing and allows a controlled and sustained release of silver into the wound. During 2001, AMS commenced development of products fabricated from these silver and alginate fibres. The Company will now progress discussions with international marketing partners to secure licensing and supply agreements for these new, anti-microbial wound dressings as they are progressed through trials. AMS supplies a range of advanced products to leading woundcare companies on a global basis and the licensing-in of the X-STATIC(R) technology continues the Company's strategy of moving towards more technically advanced, higher value products. Commenting on the announcement, Bill McNally, President & CEO of Noble Fiber Technologies said: 'We see the medical arena, and woundcare in particular, as a very exciting growth area where the established anti-microbial, anti-odour and therapeutic performance of our X-STATIC(R) technology can offer real benefits. We are very excited at the prospects offered by entering into this relationship with AMS due to its complementary technology, excellent partner base and new product development pipeline. In this respect, we also see future possibilities to leverage this relationship into other material areas and other medical products in the future.' Chief Executive Officer of AMS, Don Evans, commented: 'To have secured the license for this leading silver technology is extremely exciting for AMS and puts us firmly at the forefront of the higher value end of the advanced woundcare market. The agreement will help us to continue to strengthen our position as a premium supplier of advanced woundcare products and we look forward to securing marketing partner agreements and to progressing through the regulatory pathways necessary to launch these products, initially into the hospital markets.' - ENDS - For further information, please contact: Advanced Medical Solutions Group plc Tel: +44 (0) 1606 863500 Don Evans, Chief Executive Graeme Brookes, Sales & Marketing Director www.admedsol.com Buchanan Communications Tel: +44 (0) 20 7466 5000 Nicola How / Fergus Mellon Notes to Editors: Advanced Medical Solutions is a leading global company in the development and manufacture of products for the £1billion global advanced wound care market.
