Advanced Medical Solutions Grp PLC 21 February 2001 ADVANCED MEDICAL SOLUTIONS AWARDED TISSUE ENGINEERING GRANTS FROM GLASGOW AND ASTON UNIVERSITIES Advanced Medical Solutions Group plc has been awarded grants totalling £130,000, in support of the company's research on tissue engineering. The grants to investigate cell-fibre interactions have been awarded for projects in conjunction with the Universities of Aston and Glasgow. As part of a consortium under the leadership of Professor Adam Curtis of the Department of Cellular Engineering at the University of Glasgow, Advanced Medical Solutions will develop cell-fibre scaffolds for a project entitled 'Nanobiotechnology and Medicine'. The research is financed under the European Framework V Scheme. Further work on the development of cell-fibre scaffolds to support endothelial cell growth will be performed as part of a project entitled 'Improving the design of small bore vascular grafts'. This work is to be performed in association with Drs Helen Griffiths and Allan Coombes of the Pharmaceutical Sciences Research Institute, Aston University, and is supported under the Dti/Teaching Company scheme.
