At the AGM held at 12 noon today the Chairman made the following comments:


'As we reported in our preliminary results statement we have taken significant
steps to improve the Company's performance.  Central overheads have been reduced
to more appropriate levels and sales in both our ELLE wholesale and retail
businesses are ahead of last year and in line with expectations.  While it is
too early to make any further indication of future performance the Board remains
confident of the outcome for the year.'
