Appointment of New Director

Standard Life UK Smaller Companies Trust plc is pleased to announce the appointment of Allister Langlands as an independent non-executive director, with effect from 1 July 2014.

Mr Langlands was until recently Chairman of John Wood Group PLC, having served as chief executive from 2007 to 2012 and previously as deputy chief executive from 1999 and as group finance director from 1991. He is also independent non-executive chairman of Maven Income and Growth VCT 5 plc, the senior independent non-executive director for Exova Group plc and a non-executive director of WS Atkins plc.

Allister has an MA (Hons) in Economics from the University of Edinburgh and completed the Harvard Advanced Management Program in 1999. He is also a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland, having trained with Deloitte Haskins & Sells (now PricewaterhouseCoopers) before being made a partner in 1989.

Mr Langlands currently has no beneficial interest in the shares of the Company.

There are no other disclosures required under Section 9.6.13 (1) to (6) of the Listing Rules.
