CIRCULAR AND NOTICE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENERAL MEETING

Edinburgh Small Companies Trust plc (the 'Company') has today published a
circular to the Company's shareholders in response to a requisition of an
extraordinary general meeting of the Company received on behalf of funds managed
by Laxey Partners Limited ('Laxey').
The circular convenes the extraordinary general meeting of the Company, to be
held at 2.30 p.m. on Monday 14 August 2006, at which the resolution put forward
by Laxey will be proposed and sets out the Board's proposals for the future of
the Company.
