API Group plc (the 'Company')

The Company received notification on 12 March 2001 from HSBC Investment Bank
plc (HSBC) that as at the close of business on 8 March HSBC was interested in
1,385,294 ordinary shares of the Company and as at close of business on 9
March 2001 HSBC no longer had a notifiable interest in the Company's Ordinary
shares.

This notification was also made on behalf of HSBC Investment Bank Holdings plc
as HSBC Investment Bank plc's parent, and HSBC Holdings plc, the ultimate
parent company.
