                            Annual General Meeting
                                       
The Board of Morgan Grenfell Latin American Companies Trust PLC announces that
at the Annual General Meeting held today all resolutions were passed.

The  Special  Business at the Annual General Meeting approved by  shareholders
was  (i)  the  authority for the Company to make market purchases  for  up  to
7,980,833  ordinary shares (ii) adoption of new Articles of Association  (iii)
the  change of name of the Company to Deutsche Latin American Companies  Trust
PLC  and (iv) the resolution that the Company continue as an investment  trust
subject to review by shareholders at the next Annual General Meeting.

The Board further announces that Mr J W R Shakespeare, having attained the age
of seventy, has retired as a Director and Chairman of the Company at the
conclusion of the Annual General Meeting. At a Board meeting held later in the
day, Mr R V Watkins was elected Chairman of the Board of Directors.
