Purchase of Own Securities

MORGAN GRENFELL LATIN AMERICAN COMPANIES TRUST PLC

The  Board of the Morgan Grenfell Latin American Companies Trust PLC announces
that  the Company has today purchased for cancellation 350,000 ordinary shares
in the Company at a price of 54.5p per share.

Following this purchase there are now 61,936,050 ordinary shares in issue.
