TO COMPANY ANNOUNCEMENTS OFFICE

We wish to inform you that on Friday, 21 July 2000 we were notified by the Co-
operative  Insurance  Society Limited that, at close of business  on  21  July
2000,  its  total notifiable interest in the ordinary shares of  this  Company
stands  at  5,650,000 ordinary shares representing 10.61% of the issued  share
capital.

Shares are held as follows:

Co-operative Insurance Society Limited       3,150,000 Shares    5.92%

CIS Pension Scheme Nominee Limited           2,500,000 Shares    4.69%

The  increase in the percentage holding was as a result of a stock loan return
on 21 July 2000.
