STANDARD LIFE EQUITY INCOME TRUST PLC

ISSUE OF EQUITY

The Board announces that Standard Life Equity Income Trust plc ("the Company") has today allotted 728,215 ordinary shares of 25p each, which rank pari passu with the existing ordinary shares in issue, in connection with the Company's existing subscription shareholders exercising their rights to subscribe for one ordinary share in the capital of the Company at 320 pence per ordinary share on 31 December 2015 in accordance with the terms of the issue of subscription shares which were set out in the circular to the Company's shareholders dated 19 November 2010. 

Application has been made to the UK Listing Authority for admission of 728,215 ordinary shares to the Official List and for such ordinary shares to be admitted to trading on the London Stock Exchange's main market for listed securities ("Admission").  It is expected that Admission of these ordinary shares will become effective on 15 January 2016 and that dealings in the ordinary shares will commence at 8.00 a.m. on 15 January 2016.  Thereafter, the total number of ordinary shares in issue will be 44,509,906 and the total number of voting rights in the Company will be 44,509,906.

The above figure may be used by shareholders as the denominator for the calculations by which they will determine if they are required to notify their interest in, or a change to their interest in, the Company under the FCA's Disclosure and Transparency Rules.
