The Board of British Assets Trust PLC announces that on 29 March 2000, the
Company purchased for cancellation 75,000 warrants at a price of 48.25 pence
each.

Following this purchase there are now 7,188,143 warrants outstanding, 9.4 per
cent of the original warrant issue.

The Company has now purchased for cancellation a total of 69,611,857 warrants,
representing 90.6 per cent of the original warrant issue.
