ABERDEEN ASIAN SMALLER COMPANIES INVESTMENT TRUST PLC - SHARE BUY-BACK

On 25 January 2008, Aberdeen Asian Smaller Companies Investment Trust PLC
purchased in the market, 22,000 ordinary shares at 298.032 pence per share.
These shares will be held in treasury. Following the transaction, the Company's
share capital will comprise:


31,958,939 Issued Ordinary shares (excluding treasury shares)
692,205 Ordinary shares held in treasury
32,651,144 Issued Ordinary shares (including treasury shares)
