AMENDMENT

Please note that the announcement released on Friday 21 November 2008 at 16:55 hrs (RNS No: 7212l) showed an incorrect issued share capital figure of 30,991,823. Hence the ordinary shares held in treasury and ordinary shares (including treasury shares) figures were also incorrect. Please see below the correct announcement.

ABERDEEN ASIAN SMALLER COMPANIES INVESTMENT TRUST PLC - SHARE BUY-BACK

On 21 November 2008, Aberdeen Asian Smaller Companies Investment Trust PLC purchased in the market, 21,150 ordinary shares at 212.25 pence per share. These shares will be held in treasury. Following the transaction, the Company's share capital will comprise:

30,966,923 Issued Ordinary shares (excluding treasury shares) 

1,684,221 Ordinary shares held in treasury

32,651,144 Issued Ordinary shares (including treasury shares)
