Aberdeen Asian Smaller Companies Investment Trust PLC ("the Company")

Issue of Equity

The Company announces the allotment on 13 July 2005 of 100,000 ordinary shares
of 25p each under its block listing facility.  The issued share capital is now
28,354,100 ordinary shares.

These shares were issued at a price of 242.50p per share.  The fully diluted net
asset value per share at the close of business on 12 July 2005 was 235.79p.
