ABERDEEN ASIAN SMALLER COMPANIES INVESTMENT TRUST PLC (the "Company")

ISSUE OF EQUITY

The Company announces that, on 10 January 2013, it issued 25,000 new Ordinary shares of 25p each (the "New Shares") for cash at a price of 926.75 pence per share under its Ordinary share blocklisting facility.  The New Shares rank pari passu with the existing Ordinary shares and dealings are expected to commence on 15 January 2013.

Following this issue, the Company's issued Ordinary share capital consists of 36,318,582 Ordinary shares and 1,076,290 Treasury shares. Accordingly, the total number of voting rights in the Company is 36,318,582 and this figure may be used by shareholders as the denominator for the calculations by which they will determine if they are required to notify their interest in, or a change to their interest in the Company, under the Disclosure and Transparency Rules.
